Bluetooth
Pair Bluetooth device
To turn on Bluetooth and pair with a headset or other device, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap the Bluetooth Switch to On. The Switch moves right and turns green.
- If necessary, turn on the other device and make it discoverable.
- Tap Bluetooth.
- Under 'Available devices,' tap the device you want to pair with.
Note: Tap Scan if you do not see the device you want to pair with. - If prompted, enter the pairing passcode. The default passcode is '1234.'
- On the other device, if necessary, enter the passcode and then accept the pairing.
Turn on / off Bluetooth
To turn on or turn off Bluetooth, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Tap Settings.
- To turn on, tap the Bluetooth Switch to On. The Switch moves right and turns green.
- To turn off, tap the Bluetooth Switch to Off. The Switch moves left and turns grey.
Emergency Alerts
Turn on / off Emergency Alerts
To turn on or turn off Emergency Alert messages that push to the device, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
- Tap Messaging.
- Tap the Menu key and then tap Settings.
- Tap Emergency alerts.
- For the following alerts, tap the alert to select the check box and turn on or clear the check box and turn off:
- Imminent extreme alert
- Imminent severe alert
- AMBER alerts
Note: Presidential alerts are automatically turned on and cannot be disabled.
GPS
Turn on / off GPS
To turn on or turn off GPS, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Location services.
- To turn on, tap Use GPS satellites to select the check box.
- To turn off, tap Use GPS satellites to clear the check box.
Network
APN & data settings
To set the Access Point Name (APN) and turn on data settings, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap More settings.
- Tap Mobile networks.
- Tap Access Point Names.
- If available, tap the T-Mobile US APN (the bullet point fills with green). If not available, tap the Menu key, and then tap New APN.
Note: To reset your APN settings, tap the Menu key and then tap Reset to default. - Verify and update the following settings for the Data APN:
- Name: T-Mobile US
- APN: epc.t-mobile.com
- Proxy: <Not set>
- You can also set: 216.155.165.050
- Port: <Not set>
- You can also set: 8080
- User name: <Not set>
- Password: <Not set>
- Server: <Not set>
- MMSC: http://mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
- MMS proxy: <Not set>
- You can also set: 216.155.165.050
- MMS port: <Not set>
- You can also set: 8080
- MCC: 310
- MNC: 260
- Authentication type:<Not set>
- APN type: <Not set> OR Internet+MMS
- APN protocol: IPv4/IPv6
- Enable/disable APN: <greyed out unless there are multiple APN's>
- Bearer: Unspecified
- Tap the Menu key.
- Tap Save.
- Tap the desired APN profile you want to use. The bullet point fills with green next to the APN profile.
Manual network selection
To manually select the wireless network the device connects to, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap More settings.
- Tap Mobile networks.
- Tap Network operators.
- Tap Search now.
The device detects and registers on wireless networks inside T-Mobile’s calling area, but roaming networks are usually restricted to T-Mobile SIM cards. You can manually select a network only in areas where T-Mobile does not own GSM spectrum.
Switch 2G / 4G
To change the band between 2G and 4G, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap More settings.
- Tap Mobile networks.
- Tap Network mode.
- Tap one of the following desired band settings:
- GSM / WCDMA (auto connect)
- GSM only (2G only setting)
- WCDMA only
Turn on / off Airplane mode
Airplane mode turns off wireless connections. This allows you to use apps and menus, but not make calls or use the internet.
To turn on or turn off airplane mode, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap More settings.
- To turn on, tap Airplane mode to select the check box. Tap OK.
- To turn off, tap Airplane mode to clear the check box. Tap OK.
Turn on / off data roaming
To turn on or turn off data roaming, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap More settings.
- Tap Mobile networks.
- To turn on, tap Data roaming to select the check box.
- To turn off, tap Data roaming to clear the check box.

System Manager (Carrier IQ)
Opt in / out of System Manager
System Manager makes it easier for T-Mobile to help with problems that happen when using your device. To opt in or opt out of System Manager, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Tap Settings.
- Tap Backup and reset.
- Tap Collect diagnostics.
- To opt in, tap Allow diagnostics to select the check box.
- To opt out, tap Allow diagnostics to clear the check box.
Wi-Fi
Delete Wi-Fi network profile
To delete a saved Wi-Fi network profile, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Tap Settings.
- If necessary, tap the Wi-Fi Switch to On. The Switch moves right and turns green.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- Touch and hold on the Wi-Fi network.
- Tap Forget network.

To scan for and connect to available Wi-Fi networks, follow these steps:
- From any Home screen, tap the Menu key.
- Tap Settings.
- If necessary, tap the Wi-Fi Switch to On. The Switch moves right and turns green.
- Tap Wi-Fi.
- If necessary, tap Scan.
- Tap the desired Wi-Fi network you want to connect to.
- If necessary, enter the password.
- Tap Connect.
